The level of democracy within the Democratic Party has been the cause of a heated debate in the studio of Ilva Now. Afrim Krasniqi said that what punished DP during the April 25th elections was the overconfidence that the 8 years of Rama’s administration was coming to an end. According to him, DP’s mistake was two-fold, because it had the chance to reform, but it didn’t know how to take advantage of the people’s discontent and disappointments as well as the government’s fatigue. The lack of transparency from within DP, according to Krasniqi is something apparent.
“SP holds a meeting 3 times a month, even though it does it for show; in DP there aren’t any meetings. DP started their campaign too late, not hearing the people’s voice, who were discontent with the 8-year-long government,” said Krasniqi.
According to the Deputy Chair of DP, Edmond Spaho, what needs to worry people is the fate of democracy in our country, not the democracy within DP. In the morals of politics, according to Spaho, if these elections are fair, we can go ahead with the standard of resignation, something which according to him isn’t the case, and the lack of internal democracy isn’t the problem either.
According to him, the battle of the Democratic Party to secure the standard of these election, is an old issue that starts with the “burning or relinquishing of mandates from democratic MPs and all the way to the non-concession of the 2017 elections.
He warned that DP will take the case of these elections to Strasburg, if they don’t or can’t find justice here.
