Israel’s national soccer team arrived in Kosovo on Friday, after strict security measures were taken at Pristina airport.

The national team of Kosovo and that of Israel will play a qualifying match for the European Championship on Sunday.

The two buses of the Israeli team were escorted by several Kosovo Police cars from the airport to the hotel where the team is staying, with increased security measures.

The Israel Football Federation has posted on X – formerly known as Twitter – a video showing the players on their way to the airport in Israel, who were forced to take shelter after a rocket was fired nearby.

“Nothing will stop us on our way to Euro 2024,” the federation wrote.

This will be the first match Israel will play since the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, which sparked the war in Gaza.

Firstly, the Kosovo-Israel match was scheduled to be held on October 15.

Israel is third in Group I for Euro 2024, behind Romania and Switzerland, but has two games to play.

The Israeli national team has never been qualified for the European Championship since joining UEFA in 1994. But they now have to play four games in ten days in an attempt to qualify.
