“Istria? Forget about it, too expensive. Switch to Vlora, in Albania”. This is written by German media focusing on tourism, examining the vacation possibilities for their fellow citizens in the upcoming tourist season.

“About a decade ago, Croatia was a very affordable tourist destination. But that has changed drastically. The northern part of Istria, for instance, has become extremely popular among German hikers. In line with demand, but also due to the switch from kuna to euro, prices have increased significantly in the last year,” writes Fenix Magazine, referring to an investigation conducted by RTL TV.

In the summer of 2023, tourists “had to pay up to 50% more for the same accommodation compared to the previous year”, Berlin journalists report. “The chances of prices decreasing this summer are slim”. Therefore, as an alternative to Istria, German vacationers are suggested the Albanian city of Vlora.
