Italians prefer Gjirokastra out of 100 thousand tourists, 25% are Italian citizens

Throughout this year, the city of Gjirokastra has been visited by over 100,000 tourists, while the highest number of them, with about 25%, is occupied by tourists from Italy. In this early summer, Italian tourists are expressing increasing interest in visiting the historical and museum values ​​of the stone city, part of the UNESCO world heritage.

“The arrival of tourists in the form of various groups or individuals has started since the first months of the year, there has been an increase in their presence during the spring and I would say that the presence of Italian tourism in Gjirokastra is on the right track, always maintaining, as it happened last year, the first place of tourist presence for Gjirokastra” said Teodor Bilushi, honorary consul of Italy.

The novelty for this year is the quality flow of tourists from Italy as well as the increase in the number of days they stay in Gjirokastra.

“The characteristic for this year is the presence of groups and tourists who have some kind of quality, but also those who come for the first time after hearing good things from other tourists who have been there for years,” said Bilushi.

Visitors from Italy appreciate the hospitality as well as the conditions for accommodation and stay in Gjirokastra.

“I want to say that Albania was a real discovery for us, very nice people, very good conditions and food, we are very satisfied with the hospitality, Gjirokastra is very well known, I can’t wait to visit” said a tourist.

Even this summer, Gjirokastra aims to be one of the main tourist destinations of our country.
