A 28-year-old man was rescued after a 10-hour search-and-rescue operation at night in the open sea in Borsh, after his jet ski was turned off in the middle of the sea due to a malfunction.
The young man, a resident of Tirana, was moved by the currents 2.5 miles in depth, towards the island of Corfu, seriously endangering his life.
“After receiving the notification from friends of the citizen K. S., 28 years old, resident in Tirana, that they had lost contact with the latter, since at around 8:00 p.m., this citizen, for tourist purposes, had left with a Jet Ski, from Porto Palermo towards Borsh, services of the Border Police of DVKM Vlorë and the department “Delta”, equipped with 3 boats and assisted by fishermen from the area, organized the work and went immediately to the open sea, to locate and rescue the 28 year old. As a result of a search and rescue operation that lasted from 20:00 to 06:20 today, in the open sea, carried out by specialized services of the Police, it became possible to locate 2.5 miles at the depth of the sea, and bringing the 28-year-old man ashore, in good health. “Due to a malfunction, the Jet Ski that this citizen was driving, during the night, had turned off in the middle of the sea and the sea currents had moved it towards the island of Corfu,” the police explained.
