Journalist Reldar Deda said that if the Democratic Party does not unite, this political force risks losing deeply in the next local elections that will be held on May 14, 2023.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Deda pointed out that Enklelejd Alibeaj is a minority within DP, but added that the votes for his candidates will be votes against the 30-year transition.
“The union must be achieved because what is the essence of democracy? It is when all parties gain something. If the DP will not unite, the DP risks being a sore loser in these elections. The question here is: is the DP entering this race to win or is the DP entering this race to simply gain back full control of the party? Undoubtedly, the answer should be obvious. Alibeaj’s faction is a minority and Alibeaj’s candidates and all those who will vote for these candidates are a vote against the 30-year-old leadership, and the symbol of the country’s democratic transition”, he argued.
