KFOR has increased security measures in Kosovo, after the attack on the Ibër-Lepenci channel. Through a press release, the peacekeeping mission has announced that it has started preparations for the defense plan of the Monastery of Deçan.
It says that the Battalion of the Western Regional Command of the NATO-led KFOR mission, in cooperation with the Hungarian reserve battalion, conducted an exercise to implement the defense plan for the Monastery in Deçan.
The exercise has made it possible to improve the deployment capacity of rapid response units, carried out by land vehicles and helicopters.
“KFOR continues to implement its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 to contribute to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, in any time and in an impartial manner”, the announcement further states.
KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX, in their respective roles to guarantee security in Kosovo, it is stated at the end of the announcement of the peacekeeping mission.
