Dritan Goxhaj considers the decision of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of Tirana to keep him in a cell, at the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo, a “legal” coup.
The former member of the KLA, through a letter published from prison, states that “today, Albania and its legal system are being attempted to be taken hostage by the Office of the Special Prosecutor) of Kosovo and the Special Court of Kosovo.”
“These two entities, after taking hostage the fragile and young state of Kosovo, returning it to the time of Rankovic, when Albanians were arrested, punished and killed just for freedom of speech, just for daring to openly express their opinions, are also trying today, they take free speech hostage”, says Goxhaj
According to him, the crimes for which this prosecutor’s office has filed charges are absolutely not within its competence, “but these two entities have given themselves the right to assume the powers of the prosecutor’s office and the court of general jurisdiction”, emphasizes Goxhaj.
Dritan Goxhaj was arrested about a month ago in Tirana on the charge of revealing the names of witnesses in several criminal cases, brought after the war in Kosovo. Several protests have been held in the capital to demand his release.
