This Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, during a press conference, handed over her duties as Minister of Interior to the new minister in this position, Besfort Lamallari.

During her speech, Koçiu stated that holding the position of Minister of Interior was a privilege for her. She also emphasized that all the issues and work she left unfinished will, according to her, be carried forward with professionalism by Lamallari.

“Transitions come with their own emotions, but I believe that the transition I am handing over today to the Minister of Interior, Lamallari, is more like Besfort returning home. I am very happy to share this transition with Besfort, who has returned home once again.

For me, it is certainly an extraordinary honor. I had never imagined that I would lead the Ministry of Interior, and without a doubt it has been a privilege to share a 5–6 month journey together, a challenge entrusted to me by Prime Minister Edi Rama. I believe I have carried out this duty with dedication and great commitment, precisely because the Ministry of Interior, beyond its specific responsibilities, also carries a number of issues that require attention and focus.

All the issues we have raised, I am sure, will move forward with the professionalism and dedication of the new Minister of Interior, to whom I wish success. I also wish success to all of you. I would have liked to have the opportunity to get to know you even more closely, but even in my new position we will have the opportunity to exchange valuable experiences and ideas in order to advance the good work of the government and every institution,” Koçiu said.
