In 2011, Korça had 75,994 inhabitants, according to the census data of that year. After twelve years, the city’s population has declined, reaching 60,754 inhabitants in 2023.

This phenomenon has spread throughout the country, although compared to other countries, Korça has the least decline.

The district of Shkodra is the city with the highest rate of population decline. The decline here is 28%. 61,000 people live in the county today, less than 12 years ago.

Lezha, which includes the coastal municipalities of Lezha and Kurbin, as well as the area of ​​Mirdita, lost 26% of its population or 35 thousand people.

The district of Fier suffered a hemorrhage of people in the amount of 70 thousand inhabitants. Nearly 23%, or one in four residents here chose to emigrate.

The district of Elbasan lost one in every five inhabitants during the last twelve years, or a total of 63 thousand people.

The population of Vlora District has decreased from 193 thousand people in 2001, to 177 thousand in 2011 and to 147 thousand in 2023. The decrease during the last twelve years has been 30 thousand people or 17%.
