For 25 consecutive years, every day the Metropolis of Korça donates food to nearly 100 poor families of this city.
For Father Vangjel Sotir, this is being a believer in God, helping those in need.
“This canteen has been operating for 25 years, this canteen has been a priority because it is a service for people in need and what we offer to these people is related to our faith. What God said “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” He identified himself with these people and this is part of our ministry. It is not a sacrifice, it is something that we offer with love and dignity”, said Father Vangjel Sotiri.
Being charitable is part of the Christian faith and funds for food are not only given by the Metropolitan but also by Orthodox believers.
“It is something that we Christians have our own. We Christians. This canteen was maintained with the funds of the Metropolis and the funds of the faithful. We try to be helpful to these people. They receive 100 rations every day for these people who are not just poor, but very poor,” said Father Vangjel Sotiri.
In addition to food, people in need also receive health care from the Metropolis when they need it.
