A 27-year-old woman, Vanessa Ballan, was found dead in the village of Spineda di Riese Pio X, in the province of Treviso. The young woman lived at home with her husband, Nicola Scapinello, who was by her side and in a state of shock. The alarm was raised by a neighbor who called 118. She had been stabbed and the suspect is a Kosovar citizen, who had previous acquaintances with the victim.

According to SKY News, the suspect for Vanessa’s murder is the Kosovar citizen, Bujar Fandaj, 41 years old. Police are still looking for him. It seems that Vanessa Ballan knew him and reported him for stalking last October.

It was her husband, Nicola Scapinello, who revealed this to investigators. The suspect, who lives in Altivole, a municipality on the border with Riese, apparently fled the scene of the crime.

According to the inquest, Vanessa was beaten in the face and then stabbed with at least seven deep stab wounds to the chest. There are numerous defensive injuries on the woman’s hands, confirming how desperately she tried to save herself.

Her partner, who was with her at home, is in a state of shock, but has managed to provide useful information to investigators who are looking for the killer. The murder weapon has not yet been found.

The couple, married since November 2012, have a 4-year-old son, whose presence at the time of the crime was not ascertained, and had been living in the small village of Riese for years. It is a small residential neighborhood with semi-detached houses, and a hairdresser, which the 27-year-old frequented. Vanessa was pregnant for a few months and worked as a saleswoman at Eurospin in Castelfranco,” said Veneto governor Luca Zaia.
