Following today’s decision by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo to impose a temporary measure regarding the decree on the dissolution of the Assembly, the Government of Kosovo issued a media statement reacting to the suspension of the decree.
In its official statement, the government noted that the Constitutional Court’s decision “suspends the implementation of this decree until the case is reviewed on its merits.” It added that this creates space for the issue “to be fully examined by the Constitutional Court, in accordance with the constitutional order and the principles of democratic institutional functioning.”
The government also emphasized that for the next three weeks it will remain “in a waiting position,” pointing out that a number of agreements and decisions important for citizens remain without parliamentary approval.
In conclusion, Kosovo’s executive branch expressed the expectation that the final decision of the Constitutional Court will “provide full clarity on this issue and establish the constitutional standard so that in the future institutions and citizens will not face such serious obstacles.”
