Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi met this Friday in an official visit the new Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, Ejup Maqedonci, as well as the delegation that accompanied him.

Peleshi appreciated the fact that he made his first official visit as Minister of Defense of Kosovo to Tirana, demonstrating once again the importance of relations, friendship and cooperation between two countries.

Discussions between the two ministers were focused on bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense, as well as the assessment of opportunities for the intensification of this cooperation in the future. The two ministers also talked about the situation in the Western Balkans region, regional cooperation as well as the challenges the region is facing.

Minister Peleshi assured Minister Maqedonci that the Ministry of Defense of Albania will continue its contribution to the promotion of the “Open Door Policy” in all regional and international initiatives, thus helping the membership of Kosovo in particular, but also any other country in the Western Balkans that aspires to be integrated into the Euro-Atlantic structures.

For his part, Minister Maqedonci expressed his gratitude for Albania’s continuous support to the Kosovo issue, while it was agreed to identify new areas of cooperation to further intensify the relations between Kosovo and Albania.
