Polling stations opened at 7:00 AM. By 11:00 AM, 8.58 percent of citizens had cast their votes.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) stated that the process is proceeding smoothly, with no major incidents reported.
There have been reports of delays in opening some polling stations and concerns regarding the marking of voters’ fingers with indelible ink, but the CEC has not addressed these issues.
The four candidates for prime minister—Albin Kurti, Bedri Hamza, Lumir Abdixhiku, and Ramush Haradinaj—have exercised their right to vote and urged all citizens to do the same.
Similar calls have been made by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
Local Serbs are also participating in these elections, despite having boycotted previous ones since November 2022, when the Serbian List—the main Serb party in Kosovo—resigned from Kosovo’s institutions. A group of Serbs funded by the Serbian government has collectively voted at a polling station in North Mitrovica.
The elections are being monitored by the network of non-governmental organizations, Democracy in Action (DnV), as well as observers from the European Union mission in Kosovo.
