The Federation of Health Trade Unions in Kosovo held a protest on Thursday, blocking the entrance to the Ministry of Health. The unionists, with placards in their hands, presented their demands for salary increases, which they consider insufficient according to the government’s proposals.
The protesters expressed their displeasure with the proposal to increase the salary coefficient, describing it as inappropriate and insufficient. The head of the union, Tevide Imeri, accused the government of a lack of social dialogue, stressing that “this government does not want unions, nor social dialogue.”
“We have been brought to this situation after all this time. As a federation, we have been inclined to lead the social dialogue and have given sufficient space for reflection. However, this ministry has not given any signal for cooperation with the unions,” she said during the protest.
The trade unionists warned that the protests will continue until their demands are met. The protest took place without incident, while the Kosovo Police took care of its progress.
