Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Zveçla, in a statement to the media, after the government meeting, clarified the decision taken to declare the terrorist organizations “Civil Defense” (Civilna Zashtita) and “Northern Brigade” (Severna Brigada), which operate in the North.
Zveçla said that the police have accurate information that these organizations have carried out terrorist attacks in the North of Kosovo.
“These groups aim to undermine the public security of Kosovo”, said Zveçla.
Zveçla also listed some of the events that took place in the north, which according to him are related to these organizations.
“Referring to the security analyzes and assessments of our institutions, we have been informed that terrorism and local violent extremism is present in the northern part of Mitrovica. We have accurate information that groups that have already been identified by our institutions have committed numerous terrorist acts in the northern part of our country, such as the attack on officials, the CEC Office in the north of the country in December 2022, armed attacks on officials of KP, members of KFOR and EULEX. Burning of cars with legal RKS license plates, attacks and threats against political opponents and citizens in order to prevent them from participating in the elections. Trafficking and possession of weapons with the purpose of carrying out terrorist attacks against the institutions of Kosovo, attacks against journalists and media workers, arson against public and private properties, as well as an attack against the facility of the municipality of North Mitrovica with hand grenades,” he said.
The Minister of Interior of Kosovo also responded to the media regarding the incident with the son of President Vucic the day before in Graçanica. Zveçla said that Vučić’s son provoked with the t-shirt he was wearing in a demonstrative way (where it says surrender is not an option), so the Kosovo police and KFOR accompanied him only once to take it off.
“We all know that Vučić was the Minister of Propaganda in Milosevic’s government, but he proves it to us every day that he is a chronic liar. He was not stopped three times, but only once at the exit of the municipality of Pristina in the direction of Serbia”, he said.
Regarding his entry into Kosovo, the minister said that Vučić’s son entered Kosovo as an ordinary citizen.
“As for the son of Aleksandar Vucic, he entered Kosovo as an ordinary citizen. Even according to the Brussels agreement, but also according to current practices, there are no special procedures for the entry of ordinary citizens. He then appeared in Graçanica with that provocative shirt. The KP, according to the information they gave me, decided to stop the cars that behaved in a suspicious manner. He was asked to remove the shirt with a provocative message for the majority of the citizens of Kosovo and it was all over and they left for Serbia,” he said.
