Albania will continue with the second round of vaccinations for medical personnel from Kosovo, with 200 doctors traveling to Kukes to receive their first COVID-19 shot.

The story was confirmed by the President of the Kosovo Health Trade Union Federation, Blerim Syla, in an interview for local media KosovaPress.

Syla said that all the staff that received the vaccine dose last week are “in great shape” and with no “significant side effects”.

“On Saturday 200 healthcare workers will travel to Kukes to receive their first vaccine shot. The doctors that were vaccinated last week are in good conditions”, Syla said.

Kosovo has not received any vaccine supplies, but the Albanian government has expressed its support in inoculating healthcare staff fighting at forefront of the pandemic.

Vaccinations are taking place in Kukes because according to a contract with the producers the vaccines cannot be sent to other countries.

Kosovo is the only remaining state in Europe that has not started vaccine rollout.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has vowed to provide sufficient supplies to inoculate all medical staff in Kosovo, estimated at approximately 11.000.
