The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo Memli Krasniqi, and the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo Lumir Abdixhiku expressed their concerns following a meeting with the international envoys, Miroslav Lajčák and Gabriel Escobar.

The opposition leaders emphasized the consequences of deteriorating relations with allies as a result of the unresolved situation in the north.

Krasniqi and Abdixhiku stated to media that the Government of Kosovo has no plans to take steps forward to deescalate the situation in the north, which puts alliances with international partners at risk.

Krasniqi said he has never seen the international representatives more concerned.

“The solution to the situation lies with the Government of Kosovo, and the responsibility lies with them,” he said after the meeting, emphasizing that the opposition expressed readiness to work towards improving relations with allies such as the US and the EU.

He did not respond to the question of whether he supports the request for holding new elections.

“I will not speculate, as such a matter has not been discussed so far,” Krasniqi added.

Meanwhile Abdixhiku raised concerns that Kosovo is in an unclear situation.

“We are entering a disturbing and unclear situation for the Republic of Kosovo. We lack a plan and [Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin] Kurti’s readiness for agreement with the allies. At this stage, Kosovo is left with the consequences that may come from the EU and the US. It is difficult for us to accept such a situation. It is an unprecedented situation for us. I hope that Kurti reflects on it, and I urge him to reflect, and I also urge [Kosovo President, Vjosa] Osmani to be more vocal in this critical situation in Kosovo,” Abdixhiku told the media after meeting with the international envoys.
