The Kosovo police have announced that they have arrested a citizen of Russia in the village of Grizhan in Zveçan, after it has been proven that he did not enter Kosovo in a regular manner.

The arrest was made on June 7, and was published in the 24-hour report of the Police, writes Radio Free Europe.

By decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was taken into custody.

On May 13 of this year, the Kosovo Police deported two more Russian citizens, who were detained on the 6th of that month, also, for crossing the border illegally.

All Russian citizens, including those with diplomatic passports, who want to enter, transit or stay in Kosovo, must be provided with a visa.

This decision was taken from 2022.

Until then, Russian citizens with diplomatic and official passports were allowed to enter, transit and stay up to 15 days in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo without a visa.

Russia does not recognize the citizenship of Kosovo.

However, the two countries have formal relations. The Russian Liaison Office in Pristina has been opened since 2005, although its activity is not very visible in public.
