The Kosovo Police has appeared in a media conference after the kidnapping of three officers in the north of Kosovo.
“They are border patrol officers and are not officers of special units, so it is a false statement by the Serbian side. As for arriving at the scene, I can say that the unit that was composed of three officials saw armed and masked suspects. They immediately asked for additional units,” said the Kosovo police official who explained that the unit arrived as quickly as possible, given that movement near the border is difficult.
“When they arrived there, they only found the official car and not the police officers. Regarding the issue that they state that they are in the territory of Serbia and have taken people, as they call, criminals and not police officers, I want to assure you that they are three police officers aged about or above 50 years who have served for years in the Kosovo police,” added the official.
Also, after the reaction of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who characterized the action of the Serbs as aggression and aim of destabilization, the next reaction came from the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who also described the kidnapping of three Kosovo police officers as an aggression from Serbia.
She has said through a post that once again Serbia has proven that it seeks destabilization in Kosovo and in the entire region.
Osmani concluded her article by saying that the Institutions of Kosovo will not give up their commitment to the rule of law, as well as their commitment to long-term peace and stability.
“The kidnapping of three police officers within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo is aggression on the part of Serbia.
This act proves once again that Serbia is not interested in peace and stability in the region, but in destabilizing Kosovo and the entire region.
Today’s act proves that Serbia continues to act with the logic of the past, whose hegemonic tendencies have caused terrible crimes and many victims.
Kosovo Police has shown commitment and determination to maintain order and law for all citizens without distinction, so such an act requires a strong reaction and unified action of the international community against Serbia’s tendency to destabilize the region.
The police officers must be released immediately and without any conditions!
The institutions of Kosovo will not give up their commitment to the rule of law, as well as their commitment to long-term peace and stability!” – wrote Vjosa Osmani.
