President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, responded to the ultimatum of French President Emmanuel Macron, who stated on August 28 that his country will review the commitments it has made on economic issues and the visa policy for Kosovo and Serbia, if they do not behave responsibly.

During a ceremony held in Pristina for the “Day of the Missing”, Osmani declared that if a step was taken to suspend the visas of Kosovo citizens, then the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue would be killed once and for all.

“I would say that this is the way to kill the dialogue once and for all. If someone wants to stop dialogue, then take such measures, which are punitive measures against the people of Kosovo. They are not against any leader, they are not against a policy, they are against the people of Kosovo. And such an unprecedented punishment, which has been a great injustice for the people of Kosovo, will result in the death of dialogue. “No one has a mandate to go to Brussels, when the people of Kosovo are being punished,” said Osmani during a visit to the Memorial for the Missing in Pristina.

Osmani declared that Kosovo has reached an agreement with the EU on the extension of the situation in the north on July 10 in Bratislava and contains to all points of the agreement.

She emphasized that the agreement envisages reducing the presence of the Kosovo Police around municipal buildings in the north, a step that Kosovo has already taken. As well as holding new elections in the North which will also be held.

According to Osmani, the legal basis for holding these elections will be ready on September 1.

She underlined that, on the other hand, she expects the EU to remove the punitive measures against Kosovo, as they are unfair and disproportionate.
