The number of new COVID-19 cases in Kosovo has seen a steep rise in the past days with 888 citizens testing positive on Wednesday and the virus claiming 1 life.
The Ministry of Health warned that the number of recoveries at the moment is “ten times lower” than that of new infections, making for a matter of concern for health authorities.
So far, the country has injected a total of 521.737 vaccine doses, with 9.1% of the population now fully vaccinated.
Earlier during the day, the government of Kosovo ratified an international agreement worth €15 million that will enable authorities to purchase COVID-19 vaccines.
Authorities are blaming the Delta strain for the rise in active cases, as according to a tally kept by the health ministry there are nearly 3,490 active infections across the country.
