Kosovo sees rising COVID-19 infections among younger people

Kosovo did not register any COVID-19 related mortality on Monday, however, the country of 1.8 million is seeing a rise in new infections.

The Ministry of Health says that 263 citizens tested positive and one person died over the last 24 hours.

Most of the positive cases belong to the age group of 20-29, while the most affected city is Prishtina.

Also, eight other citizens have recovered, bringing their total number to over 105,000, since the beginning of the outbreak.

There has been a rapid rise in active cases, declare authorities, as according to the data reported by the National Health Institute, there are currently 2,271 active infections across the country.

Specialists link the increasing tendency of infections with the rapid spread of the “Delta” variant.

A total of 2,271 patients have died from COVID-19 in Kosovo, most of them with other underlying diseases.
