Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s non-appearance at the Special Prosecutor’s Office has created clashes in the roving politics of Kosovo.

The opposition accuses the head of the government of ignoring justice, while the press office of the prime minister writes that Kurti is ready to receive the investigators in his office.

The Prime Minister’s Office has notified the Special Prosecution that the chief executive, Albin Kurti, is on a trip abroad and cannot appear at the Special Prosecution, said the spokeswoman of the Special Prosecution, Liridona Kozmaqi.

“The Special Prosecutor’s Office has been informed that Prime Minister Kurti is on a trip abroad and it is impossible to appear today at the Special Prosecutor’s Office. The Special Prosecutor’s Office, in accordance with the legislation in force, will prepare another invitation for Prime Minister Kurti for another date”, says Liridona Kozmaqi.

The spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, Përparim Kryeziu, wrote on the Facebook social network that through this invitation, an attempt is being made to influence the outcome of the 2025 elections.

“In the last elections, there was a court decision which made it impossible for him to run in the election race of February 14, 2021, and now through this invitation they are trying to influence the result of the 2025 elections. The goal remains the same. The method has changed. This is the intervention of the justice system in the election process”.

However, the opposition in Kosovo has described this action of the prime minister as disregard for the justice system.

During this Monday, Prime Minister Albin Kurti was not able to go to testify at the Special Prosecutor’s Office, but the Government’s spokesman, Pëparim Kryeziu, said that Kurti expressed his willingness to welcome the prosecutors of the case to his office on a day and time agreed by both parties to fulfill the request issued by the invitation of the prosecution.
