This Friday morning, Arben Vitia has resigned from his official duties as minister of health.

This decision comes as a result of Vitia running for mayor of Prishtina as a candidate of LVV (Self-Determination Movement), during the local elections that are set to take place on October 17.

“I am concluding my engagements from this office today and from the duties that PM Kurti had tasked me with. I will be forever grateful to PM Kurti, not only for the trust he bestowed on me but also for his unreserved support,” – said Vitia during his statement for the press.

During his statement for the press, the minister touched on the current situation in Kosovo in regards to the pandemic, stating that the fourth wave of the coronavirus has been conquered and is now being kept under control.

On February 14, general elections took place in Kosovo, where LVV won 58 seats in Parliament. Vjosa Osmani was the most voted LVV candidate and was immediately after elected as Kosovo’s President.
