After meeting with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, the PM of Kosovo Albin Kurti declared that amongst the topics of discussion among the two-state leaders were the dialogue with Serbia, visa liberalization and the advancement in the collaboration between both countries in various fields.

PM Kurti also added, however, that he didn’t receive any promises from Macron regarding visa liberalization, but added that Kosovo should focus on the war on crime and corruption.

“Certainly, the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are interested in the issue of visa liberalization and it is unfair that after fulfilling all the criteria, the visa regime is still not lifted for Kosovo. On July 18th of this year, it’s exactly three years since the European Commission said that Kosovo should not have to have any visa obligations. During our visit, we did talk about this issue. I am certain that they have received our message, however, there was no pledge on their side regarding the visa liberalization,” – declared Kurti.

In addition, the PM of Kosovo acknowledged that the Netherlands is also creating obstacles in this process.

“We also have to work with the Netherlands, we hope that there are no other countries. But, at the end of it all, we have to fortify our own home, our country and we hope that our friends in the EU will have an impact so that this injustice toward the citizens of Kosovo can finally come to an end,” – said Kurti, right after his meeting with the French president.
