Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, paid tribute this Thursday to 30 Albanians killed by Serbian forces in Rogova of Has, as well as in Goden and Bishtazhin of Gjakova. Kurti recalled the massacre of January 1999.

He emphasized that the victims fell while defending the civilian population, while nine civilians were executed mercilessly.

“The memorial medallion unveiled today for Ilir Merturi is a sign of state respect for his sacrifice and of our commitment to historical truth. It is also a reminder that calls on us every day to keep Kosovo as they envisioned it: free, developed, and progressive, worthy of their sacrifice,” Kurti wrote.

He stressed that he honors all those who gave their lives for freedom and reaffirmed his commitment to civic dignity, social justice, and lasting peace in Kosovo.

“Glory to the martyrs Merturi, Gashi, and Avdyli, and to all martyrs of all eras of the Albanian nation. Honor to all martyrs of freedom,” Kurti added.
