The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has expressed his appreciation for Kosovo regarding their readiness to accommodate the Afghan emigrants seeking refuge from the Taliban because of their close collaboration with Western forces during the War in Afghanistan.
This was announced by the prime minister of the country, Albin Kurti, who gave details regarding his conversation with the US Secretary.
The head of state said that “Kosovo is honored to offer a safe and secure environment for Afghan citizens during their transition”.
He also adds that the alliance between Kosovo-US is unwavering and that their friendship is “only growing stronger”.
So far, Kosovo has hosted close to 300 Afghanis and is expected to host a total of 2,000, for a period of up to a year, until their documentation and security checks are complete and they can head to their final destination, the US.
