The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has met with two members of the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During his visit to Sarajevo, he held separate meetings at the Presidency of Bosnia with the Croatian member, Zhelko Komšić, and the Bosnian member, Denis Beqirović.
“I thank the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, for the decision to lift the visa regime for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We appreciate such an extraordinary unilateral and, therefore, unusual step. This action will certainly contribute to the better connection of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, as well as to the increase of mutual commercial exchanges”, wrote Komšič on Facebook after the meeting with Kurti.
Meanwhile, Kurti emphasized that the decision of his Government to allow the citizens of Bosnia to travel to Kosovo with identity cards will greatly contribute to the increase of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
Kurti’s office said in an announcement that the Kosovar Prime Minister also emphasized the importance that Bosnia and Herzegovina also ratifies the mobility agreement for free movement resulting from the Berlin Process “so that the benefits from free movement are two-way”.
Kurti started his visit to Sarajevo on December 5 and during his stay in Bosnia he will also give a speech at a conference on regional reports organized by the “Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99”.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo have not recognized each other due to the opposition of Republika Srpska, headed by Milorad Dodik, who has a pro-Russian orientation and is sanctioned by the United States for undermining the Dayton Agreement.
Kurti’s visit to Sarajevo was opposed by the head of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik, who said that the Kosovar Prime Minister’s stay in Bosnia will complicate the situation in this country.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina has not recognized Kosovo. We will not allow Albanians from that region to enter with IDs”, said Dodik, according to SRNA’s report.
Due to Kurti’s visit to Sarajevo, on December 5 the ministers from the Republic of Serbia said that they will not participate in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Kosovar Prime Minister did not hold a meeting with the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Zelka Cvijanovic.
