The envoy of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, will meet Tuesday in Kosovo with the country’s deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislim.

In the announcement of the Government of Kosovo, the reason for the visit was not mentioned.

It has not been confirmed whether Lajčák will also meet with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

Lajčák visits Kosovo a day after a meeting in Athens with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević.

After the meeting with the Serbian official, Lajcak said on X – the platform previously known as Twitter – that he talked with Vučević about the situation of dialogue with Kosovo and EU-Serbia relations.

Lajčák was supposed to start his mandate as ambassador to Switzerland from September 1 of this year, but something like that will not happen until a new official is appointed to the position he currently holds.

In an interview for the Kosovo Online portal, in the Serbian language, published on June 18, Lajčák said that he was asked to continue working in his current position, so he will continue his work, but he mentioned deadlines.

During Lajčák’s mandate, the two countries have reached agreement on an agreement towards the normalization of relations, and on an implementation annex, but little has been done in practice.

Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo and constantly engages in lobbying campaigns against Kosovo, writes Radio Free Europe.

The two countries have been in dialogue in Brussels, for the normalization of relations, since 2011.

The parties have signed a number of agreements, but not all have been implemented.
