The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has proposed to shorten the period of the election campaign as the country prepares for local polls from 30 to 10 days.

His request comes in light of a deteriorating epidemiological situation in the country.

The leader of LDK reached out to other political leaders on Facebook, namely the head of Vetëvendosje (VV), the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) as well as the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

“To be more precise, under this pact, I propose to shorten the election campaign from 30 to 10 days. Let’s take the political race from the ground, where hundreds and thousands of people are gathered, in other venues, such as TV, or digital confrontations”, he said.

The election campaign is set to kick off on September 16 and conclude by October 15, while citizens will go to the polls on October 17.
