“Il Trovatore,” the world-renowned masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi, has returned to the stage of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre (TKOB) with a new production signed by the well-known director Roberto Catalani.

The opera, which premiered in 1853, brings back to Tirana one of the most prominent names on the operatic stage, internationally acclaimed tenor Josif Gjipali, who performs the role of Manrico. At the same time, internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Enkeleida Shkoza makes her debut on the Albanian stage.

The intertwining of love, jealousy, and revenge makes the story of Manrico and Leonora even more tragic. The role of Leonora in the first cast will be performed by Eva Golemi.

Set in turbulent 15th-century Spain, with Verdi’s powerful musical score, famous arias, and intense dramatic tension, “Il Trovatore” will also be performed at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre on December 12 and 13.
