The candidate of the SMI (Socialist Movement for Integration), Luan Rama said that Vlora has had members in the Albanian Parliament but they haven’t rightfully represented the interests of its residents.
During an interview with journalist Ilva Tare, the former leader of SMI spoke on the two most important motives, which have motivated him to race in the city of Vlora for the April 25th elections.
“There are many reasons why I picked Vlora, but the most fundamental reason why I went for Vlora is that all Albanian citizens, wherever they are, they feel proud for and in debt to Vlora. I am here, as a former leader of SMI, as the political leader of my party, in Vlora in order to create cohesion between all social groups of this district county. In the past eight years, the clan in power has taken Vlora hostage as well as Albania. I am here, so we can have a real alternative for representation because Vlora has had MPs, but it hasn’t had representation,” said Rama.
Rama also criticized the PM of the country, saying that he has used Vlora as a showcase in order to make himself appear as the ‘great reformer”, but according to Luan Rama, the reality is completely different.
“Edi Rama has used Vlora as a showcase to appear as this great reformer, but in reality, even though his propaganda speaks of more than 1 million euros investments in Vlora, not even a quarter of these investments can be found in the city. The realities are so contrasting that they make everyone understand that Rama is bluffing,” said SMI’s candidate.
Luan Rama also stated that SMI has a concrete program in these elections and that the first investment in Vlora after coming to power, would be the reconstruction of the road connecting Vlora with Selenica.
