The new school year started in North Macedonia, but not for the children of the municipality of Çaşka.

The father of one of them feels bad when he sees that his son is not allowed to go to school.

“They are all happy. He woke up in the morning and said why didn’t you call me to go to school? He stayed at home. Even though he bought everything, happy that he will go to school. It is very difficult if you have nothing to do”, said Jusuf Zeqiri – resident of Çaşke municipality.

The children of Banjica live in a village where there is no network for mobile phones, and the Ministry proposes that they follow the lesson online, because the Macedonian residents of this municipality do not allow these children to learn in the Albanian language. The Mayor of the Municipality, Goran Stojanovski, says that in 10 days a temporary facility will be built, where Albanian children will have the opportunity to learn in their mother tongue.

“We expect the Ministry of Education to establish a school on this platform. According to what the minister says, this should be done in 10 days. Let the company be chosen and start building the school”, said Goran Stojanovski, mayor of the municipality of Çaşka.

All this because the Macedonian parents have been protesting for years and do not allow the Albanian language to be taught in the “Todor Janevski” central school.

Euronews Albania tried to understand how it is possible to protest against the right guaranteed by the constitution to learn in the mother tongue, but it was difficult.

“Put that camera away. What do you think you are doing? Release that camera! Release when I say so.”

We tried to get an answer from the director, but they closed the door there as well.
