French President Emmanuel Macron will host his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić at the Elysee Palace on Monday evening to discuss the European integration of Serbia and relations between Kosovo and Serbia, the French Presidency announced.

As the French news agency AFP reports, the president of Serbia will be received at the French presidential palace around 20:00, where there will be a joint statement for journalists, after which there will be a dinner for the two heads of state.

On this occasion, Macron will “reaffirm the commitment and full support for the European integration of Serbia” and that “the normalization of relations with Kosovo is an integral part of the EU membership process”, the announcement states.

As AFP writes, relations between Kosovo and Serbia have been strained since the banning of the Serbian dinar currency in Kosovo at the beginning of the year.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced yesterday that he will have important talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on April 8 in Paris. He said it will be a “strategic conversation with Macron and one of the most important so far”, and that he has had 19 conversations with him so far.
