The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that the shootings in Mladenovac, where 8 people were killed and 14 others were injured, are an attack for the whole country.

Serbian media reports that Vučić, during the meeting with the Prime Minister and the government cabinet, requested for the death penalty to be reinstated, but the Prime Minister and the government rejected it, saying that with this decision, Serbia will be the only country in Europe, after Belarus, that applies such a penalty.

In addition to the death penalty, the President also requested new measures: 1,200 new police officers will be assigned to schools; greater security in schools; confiscation of weapons; heavy fines; draconian measures.

Vučić said that these events are the worst events that happened on Serbia, even though it is not a big country either from a territorial point of view or numerically, and that they will have to take measures that will give results.
