The Mayor of Decan, Bashkim Ramosaj, said that the situation is heading towards improvement, after more than 1,500 citizens were poisoned from what was widely suspected as contaminated water.

Ramosaj said that after a meeting with the Emergency Management Unit, it was decided to lift the state of emergency soon.

Also, the 12 villages supplied with the water from the Drenoc reservoir will be supplied from the Municipality of Decan instead.

On Friday, the National Institute of Public Health said that samples from the Drenoc reservoir indicated the presence of harmful bacteria.
