From the 1st to the 7th of June in many cities of the country, a series of activities will be organized for the Italian Week of Culture.
During a ceremony in Tirana, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that the new Italian Embassy building will soon be built in the capital.
“Three of us were there when we opened the competition for the new embassy of the Italian Republic. Now we will close the competition, so we will announce the winner of the new embassy. It is conceived as a gallery, as an open door. There are few offices where the officials will definitely work, but most of them are accessible from the city, both for visiting and for the gallery, and just as this house has become perhaps one of the most frequented houses in our city, despite the fact that it is formally the residence of ambassador, but basically it is a city gallery. The whole concept of the new embassy is to be a room, a gallery, a large space of the city, where some Italian officials also work. We will present the project during the week. It will most likely be the most beautiful Italian embassy in the world,” said Veliaj.
Veliaj also appreciated the multitude of events that will take place during the Italian Culture Week in Tirana and beyond, where he singled out the Day dedicated to the Arbëreshes.
Italy Week will travel from north to south with numerous sports, cultural and artistic activities which are planned in Tirana, Shkodër, Vlorë, Përmet, Gjirokastër, Korçë, Berat, etc.. Among them the celebration of the Republic Day, the concert of the Planet group Funk, Science Festival, the day dedicated to Arbëresh, Pizza Village, Run For Autism.
