The head of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, said during NOW with Erla Mehilli on Euronews Albania that the rule of law does not exist in Albania and people are being publicly tried in the media.

Referring to the recent case of the arrest of the secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mediu said that investigative documents are stimulated in the media instead of the prosecution dealing with the investigation.

“I stand by what I say and half-truths are not always true. I don’t know Gjokutaj, I knew his father who worked at the CEC. This kind of war that is being waged never serves transparency. The conclusions of the prosecution are not a decision, the court is a decision, only in Enver Hoxha’s time there were no lawyers this used to be commonplace.
