The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, in a statement to the media a day before the opposition protest, harshly attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama.

According to Meta, tomorrow the people of Albania will be in the square, who, as Meta pointed out, will not allow anyone to play with their fate.

“Edi Rama’s desperately hiding for weeks and avoiding accountability and transparency in front of the parliament in the desperate hope that he can get over the situation are just an illusion of a drowning man clinging to the last thread of the grass. The people are the only ones who give power but also take power away from the one who uses it only to rob the people’s money and sell their interests. I am convinced that the people of Albania have made the decision. They can never allow Edi Rama to continue to treat the office of the prime minister as a mafia nursery where money and national assets of Albanians are divided amongst themselves”, said Meta.

On February 11, the head of DP Sali Berisha called the fourth national protest after he returned to the leadership of the Democratic Party, a protest which Meta also supported.

The call for protest was announced by Berisha a few days ago and is undertaken as a reaction to the case of the former FBI agent, Charles McGonigal, where the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, is also mentioned in the investigation file.
