The appeal of the Special Court against Organized Crime and Corruption has imposed a prison sentence for the 6 arrested as a result of the “Metamorfoza” operation.
The decision was taken by judge Saida Dollani, who took 2 days to announce it.
Thanks to the “Metamorfoza” operation, the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, the prosecutor Xhevahir Lita, the former chief, Oltion Bistri, the former executive Adrit Hasanbegaj, Asmer Bilali, Edmond Preka who was the driver of the businessman Gjoka, were arrested.
Also, 9 other people were declared wanted, including Behar Bajri and Ervis Martinaj. Special Anti-Corruption Structure, finalized and issued 15 arrest warrants for this operation, after breaking down the SKY application. They are charged with 12 criminal offenses, from “Premeditated murder”, “Structured criminal group”, “Corruption of high state officials” to “Abuse of duty” and “Money laundering”.
The investigations started in 2019 after information provided by the Dutch, Belgian and French authorities who were able to secure communications between members of the group on the “Enchro Chat” and “SKY” networks. The investigation showed that the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka asked the citizen Behar Bajri to commit the murder of a person. It was about citizen Kleanthi Musabelli, a former employee of the prison police. For its execution, Gjoka offered up to 120 thousand euros. But referring to the communications, it turned out that Bajri communicated with Ervis Martinaj, exchanging their objectives.
Behar Bajri and Denis Borriçi execute the citizen Gjin Boriçi for the interest of Martinaj. Then Ervis Martinaj would eliminate Kleanth Musabelliu, a murder which was not carried out. Another name known to the justice system is that of Asmer Bilal, who is accused of “Providing conditions to commit attempted murder” against citizens Dorjan Duli, Ibrahim Lici and Genc Tafili. Another name for which a security measure has been imposed is Elion Hato, who is suspected of “Murder with premeditated intent remaining in the attempt” to the detriment of the citizen Taulant Pepa.
