The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, spoke to the Security Committee about the agreement on the management of illegal migrants, signed a while ago with the Italian government.

Balla said that no immigrant will be allowed to leave the area where they will be accommodated, while any expenses for these migrants will be covered by the Italian state.

“With this agreement, our country once again reaffirms its role as an ally of Italy and in addressing the challenges that come to us from illegal migration. The Council of Ministers undertakes to temporarily place at the service of the Italian government a surface of public land for the construction of a camp for the accommodation of illegal migrants. The migrants will never go outside the areas during their entire stay in Albania, in case they are located, they will return to the area, handing themselves over to the Italian side that administers the camp. All expenses for the establishment of centers, health expenses, security expenses will be covered 100 percent by the Italian side and any other unforeseen expenses”, said Balla.
