The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, in an interview with RTV Slovenia, said that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence, the country’s membership in NATO and sanctions against Russia as part of the common foreign and security policy of the European Union are completed issues.
“You know that it was Mr. Djukanovic who brought the issue of the church into everyday politics… I think that now the politicians in Montenegro have focused somewhere on the topics that are of fundamental importance to the citizens, namely the economic and living standards, the rule of law and European integration. As they divided us and focused on those divisions, what happened was that a small circle of people connected to the previous governing structure became very rich, constantly scaring people and promoting various lies about this or that influence on Montenegro, that lasted so long for the authorities”, he said.
Milatovic said that he will dedicate his mandate to the goal of the country’s membership in the European Union and that he hopes that all political entities will show responsibility in this regard.
