Prime Minister Edi Rama was at the Ministry of Defense at the inauguration of the Military Cyber ​​Security Unit, which is considered to have a key role in the fight against cyber threats and the protection of information systems.

The Ministry of Defense informs that this unit will have the support of the United States of America and will work thanks to the specialized expertise of professionals and advanced technology.

This is the newest cyber security unit. This investment is divided into three parts, in three lots. The first lot is the investment you see here, the computers, systems, servers, monitors and training that we are in the process of doing in relation to the Cyber ​​field. The second lot is the part for improving the current infrastructure in the network of the Armed Forces in the Ministry of Defense and the third lot is our advisor, who will be a part for three years, supporting us for cyber security and will be attached to Albania.

Here is the cyber security operational center that we operate 24/7. Even at night we have people who monitor the network of the armed forces”, – explained one of the employees of the unit.

Thanks to the most modern technology, which is currently also used in the USA in relation to cyber security, everything is working properly, avoiding in time any possible attempts at cyber attack.

“The real-time system provides alerts, which may have malicious intent on the systems. In the first hours we have seen a possible attempt, an unknown application, directed at a device, which is located at the Armed Forces Academy and which is a very critical device for the systems of the Armed Forces. As the monitoring team, we do the basic analysis of every event that is generated by the platform and from the basic analysis we can judge all the information flow that there has been from the attempts of actors that may be malicious towards our devices, we see that some of these attacks are categorized by this platform as malicious. I, as a monitor, think that this is something that can be critical for our systems and can have negative effects, I immediately pass this on to the operational team for a more detailed analysis”, another employee detailed the way the unit operates.
