VV (Self-Determination Movement) in Albania has reacted following the meeting held today between the Albanian PM, Edi Rama, the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic and the Macedonian PM, Zoran Zaev.

VV considered the “Mini-Schengen” initiative as a project that is ultimately against Albanians. According to VV, this initiative is only supported by three countries of the Western Balkans, whereas Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia Hercegovina are positioned against it.

They continued by saying that the very idea of the “Mini-Schengen” has “political and economic consequences that aren’t in the national interest of Albanian citizens, but they only work to strengthen the dominant role of Serbia in the region”.

“Albania can’t enforce regional projects by acting like Kosovo doesn’t exist. We are two countries of the same people, and we should act in close coordination and based on our national interests. The mini-Schengen was conceptualized and created by Serbia, with a clear aim of economically and politically dominating the 6 countries of the Western Balkans. And the Albanian PM, Edi Rama has made Albania a part of this Serbian project, by opening up our country, not only to the influence of Serbia but also to that of Russia,” states the reaction of VV in Albania.

According to VV, this is an idea that is also supported by an older part of the Trump administration, referring to the former Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grennell, who according to them “acts in the interest of Serbia”.
