The Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla, referring to the positive examples of the Road Traffic Unit in Tirana, for the new way of communicating with citizens, said that this approach should and is being extended throughout the country.
“The police will have another level of communication with citizens, without losing zero tolerance for “arrogant violators” of traffic rules. I am bringing to your attention that one of the sources of traffic in Tirana is wrong parking right in the middle of the road or driving while using the phone at the same time. These violations of the Road Code are punishable and should not be tolerated”, writes the minister in a note on social networks.
He adds that in his position as Minister of the Interior, he will insist on increasing the sense of civic responsibility and not punishment.
“I am not happy about the “successes” of the fines, but the citizens’ feeling that the rules must be implemented, not because there is a policeman behind the turn or the traffic light, but because this is how we protect everyone’s lives”, emphasizes Balla.
