The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, conducted inspections at the Vau i Dejës hydropower plant together with the Mayor of Shkodër, Benet Beci, and the Director of the National Civil Protection Agency, Haki Çako. Vengu emphasized that forces have been deployed on the ground following forecasts of heavy rainfall in the country.

He added that work is underway to manage water inflows in order to prevent possible flooding in problematic areas. The minister stated that they are fully committed to preventing and handling the expected weather situation.

“We have deployed forces on the ground and taken measures across all institutions, whether local authorities or other institutions responsible for critical infrastructure such as the Vau i Dejës hydropower plant.

We assess that we have had proper management regarding water reserves and the inflows that supply the hydropower plant. We are optimistic that in the coming hours we will maintain the same quality of management to anticipate the periodic discharges that may be necessary,” he said.
