A bitter electoral battle is becoming more and more apparent in Korça, one of the most important cultural and economic centers of Albania, as political parties have launched a series of accusations against one another.
A few days ago, the main candidate of the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) in Korça Endrit Brahimllari lodged a complaint to SPAK against Niko Peleshi, the Albanian Minister of Defense, as well as three other directors, accusing him of abuse of office and of using his post as a public functionary for political and electoral activities.
Euronews Albania correspondent Xhensil Shkëmbi also confirmed that Brahimllari is also pressing charges against Petrika Tollguçi director of the Compulsory Health Care Insurance Fund, Ilir Bajlozi director of the Social Security Office, and Artur Qeramixhi director of OSHEE, the government-owned electric distribution agency.
At the same time, the three directors have followed a similar route and sued Endrit Brahimllari for defamation.
