The Democratic party has raised allegations against the Socialist Party for misusing citizens’ personal data deposited on the government’s portal E-Albania, to use for electoral purposes.

During a statement for the media, former democratic MP, Enkelej Alibeaj called this a very serious violation of the citizens’ personal privacy, which is why he added that DP will be filing charges against this institution at the Special Anti-Corruption Structure, SPAK.

In an official reaction for Euronews Albania, the National Agency of the Organization of Information denied all these accusations.

“The attacks of the Democratic Party regarding the e-Albania platform, which provides online public services for all citizens, are baseless. We understand that DP is currently campaigning but this doesn’t justify this political attack against an institution that is entirely in the service of the people. The National Agency of the Organization of Information ensures Albanian citizens that never, under any given circumstance, has it used their data disposed by the AKSH, and that they can’t be used by political parties or the government for political or electoral purposes,” emphasized AKSHI.

The General secretary of SP, Taulant Balla has also reacted to this, calling DP’s pretenses a form of ‘desperate slandering’.

“O, desperate slanderers! The Socialist party has its own database of information compiled through years and years of organization and communication with people, door to door,” wrote Balla on his official Facebook account.
